![]() | Leak testing - consumer goods. The production of Philips' stainless steel kettle bodies highlighted a need to test the quality of the joint between the kettle body and heating plate. This machine was designed to allow batch testing of kettle bodies but also had sufficient test speed to allow short runs to be 100% tested in production. Easily replaceable tooling jigs allows a range of products to be tested. The system allowed leaks to be detected in less than 5 seconds down to as little as 2cc per min. The system is currently operating in Belgium. |
Load testing. This example shows a batch testing rig for applying axial load to braided flexible couplings. This particular example tests hoses used to isolate vibrations in high pressure refrigeration plants. A.T.L has designed and built a number of variants on this theme, notable examples include a design for automatically testing axial strength and setting the hose to the correct length after carrying out the test. The machine shown can test a range of part types using interchangeable tool sets and is used essentially for sample testing, it is controlled by a simple P.L.C. and driven by an air over oil hydraulic system. Other designs have utilized more sophisticated control with servo drives for precise positioning and load cells for accurate load measurement. Control systems can range from the simple example shown to more complex implementations having continuous part data logging and multiple part databases with graphical load / extension displays. | ![]() |

![]() | Leak testing - industrial production. An Oil bottling plant in China required an in line leak test for the oil canisters which were blow moulded on site and passed by conveyor to the filling systems. The specification called for a go - no go test that would be 'transparent' to the production process. The solution chosen was a gang tester using pressure decay that could provide this indication within 4 seconds. Four bottles were tested at a time, any defects being ejected from the main conveyor path. The system was fully adjustable for pass and fail criteria and could be networked to a central control. |
C & I Solutions ............... LD001 Leak Detector. When fast leak detection is required the LD001 can be used. Able to operate over two ranges, 0-200 Pa and 0-2000 Pa and carry out up to 16 tests in sequence the unit is very versatile. Connection via either RS485 or RS232 make it a very useful partner to our custom built automated test equipment. | ![]() |
